Sight Singing and Tonal Memory (20%)
Sight Singing will consist of 12 bars of music that you have never seen.
The first note will be given.
For each Tonal Memory exercise, the example will be played twice before you will be expected to sing it back. These range from 5-7 pitches.
Unaccompanied Patriotic Selection (20%)
Soprano: (high note ‘G’, key of Bb) America (My Country ‘tis of Thee) (Start on Tonic)
Alto: (low note ‘G’, key of F) America the Beautiful (Start on Dominant)
Tenor: (high note ‘F’, key of Ab) America (My Country ‘tis of Thee) (Start on Tonic)
Bass: (low note ‘G’, key of F) America the Beautiful (Start on Dominant)
** You will get the starting pitch **
Prepared Solo (50%)
This is to be any solo you wish to use to demonstrate the abilities of your voice. It does not need to be memorized, although presentation and preparedness will also be considered in the solo score. An accompanist will be provided or you may bring your own or use a tape/CD.
Essay (10%)
Answer the following questions, typed, 1-inch margins, size 12, Times New Roman font.
What does being a member of the Honor Choir mean to you?
What and how are you going to contribute to the ensemble?
